The Southern Old Lady Moth is a nocturnal moth and seldom seen in the open during the day so it was a surprise and a delight to see this one, out and about in daylight, on the slopes of Mount Alexander.

Measuring approximately 8cm across (about 3 inches), it is a quite an impressive little animal.
